Draw a straight line—

Text-score performance of La Monte Young

[24min22, shot on GoPro]

Draw a straight line is a shortfilm starting from the point of view of the textscore. It is a sequence of 37 consecutive lines drawn randomly on a piece of paper. Then, these said lines were measured, angles were registered and that is how a script came to be.

This was swum out in three different public pools, after closing time. This resulted in a film, filmed from the bottom of the pool. This results in the swimmer only passing by a couple of times in the frame of the camera. It shows the uselessness of a preparatory and tedious act in a humoristic, but also monotonic way.
